Operation Beautification Event

May 20, 2017

Historic Lake Cliff neighborhood of Oak Cliff

  • Hours of volunteer time – 45
  • Total litter and debris pickup – 234 lbs
  • Recycled material – 102 lbs

The assistance Keep Dallas Beautiful provided to the neighborhood improved neighborhood pride.

Keep Dallas Beautiful educated neighbors about safety issues that need to be addressed by service providers, like cables hanging from utility poles. Several neighbors walked through the neighborhood during the event and the day after the event identifying code violations and reporting them to the city through the 311 mobile app.

Community leaders report that neighbors continued to remove litter, trim bushes and trees and improve the appearance of their property on the day after the cleanup.

Pop Up Shredding Event

Saturday, June 3, 2017

Dallas Fire Station # 49
4901 S Hampton Road
Dallas, TX 75232

Provided onsite document destruction.

With the expertise and generosity of Mobile Shred It, Inc., Keep Dallas Beautiful saved 34 mature trees, 14,000 gallons of water, 6 cubic yards of landfill space, 4 barrels of oil, and 8,200 kilowatt-hours of electricity — enough energy to power the average American home for ten months. Mobile Shred It recycled two tons of paper and collected over 100 cases of water, sports drink and juices for the fire fighters at this station. Thanks to our sponsor, Mobil Shred It, Inc. and thanks to all the participants and volunteers. Also, thanks to our host, Fire Station 49!
